Ariocarpus confusus (intermediate to A. trigonus)

AL 1057 Baños Los Cuatros, NLE, Mexico

A rare and very interesting transitional population, with intermediate characters between A. confusus and A. trigonus. Tubercle morphology is very similar to A. trigonus (for which it can be easily mistaken in the absence of flowers), triangular cross-section, wider at the base, tapering to a sharp upcurved pointed tip. Great range of floral pigmentation, white, creamy yellow, pink and magenta – a variability typical of certain A. confusus populations. Surprisingly, areoles are present in some plants, alluding to A. retusus! Taxonomically puzzling. F1 seed allotted to represent all phenotypes.

Please read the germination instructions for Ariocarpus.
