Ariocarpus retusus

AL 1127 W of General Cepeda, COA, Mexico

A very distinct form deserving subspecific recognition. Massive plants with upright large elongated tubercles, wider at the base, sharply pointed at the tip. Wrinkled epidermis with dark pigmentation from grey-green to brown-purplish. White or cream colored flowers, sometimes with pink outer petals. This population is seriously endangered by grazing animals and rural expansion.

Please read the germination instructions for Ariocarpus.
