A remarkable taxon, currently classified within v. lloydii, but very different in many ways. Silver-blue tubercles with unique epidermal sculpturing, narrow channels create islands on the surface of tightly packed rhomboid tubercles. Young plants display a different growth habit with upright triangular tubercles, resembling other taxa, their color is dark green but older tubercles quickly acquire a qlaucous silvery wax.
